Wheat State Wine Co. is excited to announce its first ever Astronomy Event!!
*Ticket: $25 per person
*Time: 8p.m. to midnight
*Food & Beverage: Price includes one glass of Ad Astra dessert wine per person
*Expertise provided by: Kansas Astronomical Observers Club of Wichita
This summer, Mars will be the closest to Earth since 2003, offering some magnificent viewing. Wheat State Wine Co. is providing the ideal open area free from city lights, and the Kansas Astronomical Observers Club of Wichita is providing the expertise and the telescopes. On Saturday, August 4, sunset is at 8:34 pm and moonrise won’t be until after midnight so our view of the red planet will be optimal — provided Mother Nature cooperates!
While we wait for total darkness, you can enjoy a glass of our port-like dessert wine: Ad Astra along with a delicious chocolate dessert. Our Astronomy Experts will instruct us on “Where are the Planets Tonight?” as well as “Phases of the Moon, Does the Moon Rotate?” When Mars rises above the horizon, we will take turns viewing it in the telescopes. We can also observe Saturn, Jupiter and Venus low in the western sky.
Mars won’t be this close to Earth again for 60,000 years. You do not want to miss this opportunity!
